What a wonderful performance.  The Heights students did a superb job performing and reciting their poems for the Mesa Verde Elementary students.  They were a little nervous and shy at times but persevered.  What a great day, to see all of their hard work pay off.  There were a couple of student unable to attend the performance, but the Heights students stepped up to the challenge, fulfilling roles when necessary, and worked together to make the event a success.  I feel the the poetry project was a success.  Tee Heights students showed us at this event they had learned and grown as individuals. We were able to turn them on to poetry through the fun of creative drama.

The Mesa Verde students seemed to have a grand time as they watched and listened.  They laughed and were enraptured by the fun and silly interpretations of the poems. I really enjoyed the opportunity we had to perform for and interact with the elementary students as well. I loved their reactions to the James and the Giant Peachpoem. They were so funny when they would say "eww," "yuck!," and "gross" to the food items. And what little kids don't like candy.... You'd think they were at a parade. So Fun! Hopefully we were able to turn them on to the fun and joy poetry as did the Heights students.
